QUINOGET Eye Drops contain Gatifloxacin 0.3% w/v and Benzalkonium Chloride 0.02% v/v. It is an ophthalmic (eye) medication used for the treatment of bacterial eye infections.
CompositionGatifloxacin 0.3% w/v – A fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic.
Benzalkonium Chloride 0.02% v/v – A preservative that prevents microbial contamination of the solution.
Gatifloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are essential for bacterial DNA replication, repair, and transcription. By blocking these processes, gatifloxacin stops bacterial growth and ultimately kills the bacteria.
It is effective against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms commonly responsible for eye infections.
UsesQUINOGET Eye Drops are prescribed for:
Bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye)
Blepharitis (eyelid infection)
Keratitis (corneal infection)
Other external ocular bacterial infections
Post-operative infection prevention (as advised by a doctor)
It is not effective against viral or fungal eye infections.
How to UseWash your hands thoroughly.
Shake the bottle if advised.
Tilt your head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid.
Instill the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye.
Close your eyes gently for 1–2 minutes.
Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface to prevent contamination.
Typical dosing is usually 1 drop 3–4 times daily, but follow your doctor’s instructions strictly.
Possible Side EffectsMost side effects are mild and temporary:
Mild burning or stinging sensation
Eye irritation or redness
Watery eyes
Temporary blurred vision
Rare but serious reactions:
Severe eye pain
Swelling
Allergic reactions (rash, itching, breathing difficulty)
